In 1993 I completed a continuous walk over all the Welsh two-thousand foot summits. The idea was conceived many years before, when we were collecting the two-thousand foot tops from George Bridge's Tables. It was not until retirement that I was able to turn idea into reality. By this time resurveying had made Bridge's list out of date. I used instead the list of 181 summits described in the book:
The Mountains of England and Wales: vol 1: Wales by John and Anne Nuttall (Cicerone Press 1989)
Determined to make the walk into a complete traverse of Wales (a version of the 'Cambrian Way'), I started from Neath which just about counts as the south coast, being on a tidal river. My only rule was to walk every step of the way. My diary describes the 35 days of the walk
