the lazy philanthropist

Everyone is trying to make a buck on the internet from those chasing down multi-million dollar IPOs to the affiliate programs at Amazon and other online merchants. Most people's web sites have nominal amounts of visitors, and it's hard for me to imagine just what kind of reward someone who's privileged enough to participate in this electronic economy of luxury hopes to gain from the latter types of revenue generation. I would imagine revenue would land somewhere around twelve dollar a month, tops. Which will help what? Wash your Honda Civic and get a couple of extra toppings at Pizza Hut?

Time to give something back. Give Quick! is a tool that lets you funnel your affiliate revenue to your choice of charities directly. No middleman, no collection of funds for distribution, right from you to the charitable organization of your choice.

Everyone thinks charity is a great idea, and they're right; sharing your resources with those who have less is a concept celebrated in all faiths and cultures with the noted exception of hate groups and satanists. Everybody wants to be a good boy or girl. People are notoriously bad at time management though, which is why when we watch those human interest stories on the news about the nice folks out at soup kitchens or cutting six pack rings at the junk yard to preserve the lives of baby - whatever it is that those plastic rings strangle, we sigh wistfully and resolve to do something at some point. Well, the time is now. And it's really, really easy, I promise.

There are other sites that offer the same service -- Shop for Change and iGive, but both of those sites seem to have a fair amount of administrativa going on. I feel more comfortable with the from your lips to God's ears approach of Give Quick! Smug, who in the past has eschewed any affiliate programs at all, for the sheer vanity of it, will be participating in GiveQuick, since finally that twelve dollars will be able to do someone some real good when added to the small piles of dough other sites generate.

We encourage you to participate as well, and if your site has a bookstore or a record store to funnel the revenues to your favorite participating charity. It's not like you're being asked to go out and work (although that would be nice too) and give up your time, but the least you can do is once a month, wash the car yourself and forego the extra cheese and black olives.
